Lok’tar began this session with a fight against a Displacer Beast. After besting the beast, Gaius indicated that he wanted Lok’tar to finish the beast off, but instead he feigned a finishing move and told the animal to play dead. Lok’tar then snuck the Displacer Beast into his room and brought it the dead dwarves that Huckleberry and Newt (accidentally) killed the previous day for it to feed on, in order to tame the beast. The group convened in his room to have a finally chat about their lives when Pike Steer, a worker at the The Mace and Flail, suspiciously opened the door and glanced in the room and quickly ran away. Casstus Wolfe, Huckleberry, and Lok’tar pursued him to his room and busted in his door (which they replaced with one from an empty room). They intimidated Pike Steer, who then revealed his affiliation with the Fire Claws, and their plan to usurp the Ashen Wing gang. Pike Steer had been gathering intelligence about the The Mace and Flail, and had even dug a hole from his room into the first lower level. He also agreed that if the crew of The Sea Wolf, were to help in these efforts they could share in the profits and have any items that they wanted to collect from the establishment. Pike Steer also wanted to use the Displacer Beast as a distraction while they fight and kill Gaius, Morton, and any other Ashen Wing higher-ups.
After discussing in private— the group came to the conclusion that, at the very least, letting these two groups fight would weaken them, and leave an opportunity for later. Huckleberry left Pike Steer pinned under his immovable rod and drunk from the three tankards of ale Lok’tar forced down his throat.
Lok’tar and Casstus Wolfe also gleaned from the barkeep information about the Berserker, and Remorhaz.
